Alonza E. Cruse, Director Los Angeles District Office has over 20 years FDA experience. Mr. Cruse assumed his current position in October 2000. As Director, Los Angeles District, Mr. Cruse provides executive leadership to one of the largest District Offices within FDA’s-Office of Regulatory Affairs.

Mr. Cruse implements, manages and evaluates FDA''s regulatory operations within the District which is comprised of the state of Arizona and southern California including the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach; and provides the Executive leadership and technical direction to a multidisciplinary staff in the execution of investigations, enforcement and compliance programs and in the District''s day-to-day management. These areas serve a consumer base of approximately 22-25 million people.

Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Cruse was the Director, Import Operations in FDA’s-New York District Office, Jamaica, New York. He began his federal career with FDA as a cooperative education student from York College. Upon graduation, he was offered the position of microbiologist and eventually promoted to a Supervisory Chemist in the Northeast Regional Laboratory’s Food Chemistry Branch.

He serves on numerous committees within FDA including the Medical Device Field committee and the Import Programs committee. Alonza also serves as an advisor to University of Southern California (USC) – School of Pharmacy – Regulatory Sciences Masters Program. He is the 2004 Chair to the Greater Los Angeles Federal Executive Board. Mr. Cruse also serves as President –Elect to the Western Association of Food & Drug Officials (WAFDO).

Mr. Cruse holds a B.S. Degree in Medical Technology from York College - 1986 and is a 1996 graduate of USDA''s Graduate School - Executive Leadership Program.
